Bookmark apps on Android in 2026: which ones you can use

By The Margin Desk · Smart Bookmark Compare · Published 2026-10-12

The five Android apps

• Bookly: a reading timer that logs pages and time for print, ebook and audiobook sessions, with notes by typing, voice or photo. Its Google Play listing, updated 7 August 2026, includes Goodreads import.
• Basmo: a reading journal, highlight scanner and session tracking; on the App Store it is iPhone only.
• The StoryGraph: page or percentage progress, Kobo sync and a private journal, on Android, iPhone, iPad and web.
• Goodreads: page progress and the largest catalogue.
• Fable: clubs with spoiler-free discussion, plus an ebook reader with club reactions and Kindle import on Android. Google Play lists the developer as Scribd, Inc.; the App Store seller is Fable Group Inc.

How they rank without the iPhone-only apps

The pick-up calculator removes apps that do not run on your phone. With Android chosen and the other answers left at their defaults, Bookly ranks first among the Android apps, followed by The StoryGraph and Basmo, on the same scores as our main ranking.

What Android readers miss for now

• Finding your place from a page photo or an audiobook phrase: Magic Bookmark offers this on iPhone, with Android on its roadmap.
• Literal's free highlight capture by camera: Literal lists Android as coming soon.

Neither page we read gives a date.

A practical Android setup

For print and audiobooks, Bookly's timer covers both and keeps notes with each session. For Kobo ebooks, The StoryGraph's sync keeps your place for you. For remembering the story, keep notes as you go, in Bookly, Basmo's journal or StoryGraph's journal.
